编者按：6月30日，2004平遥国际摄影大展北京新闻发布会在国务院新闻办公室新闻发布厅举行，这是今年平遥国际摄影大展继日本东京、札幌新闻发布会后在国内举行的首次大型新闻发布会。中央电视台、凤凰卫视、旅游卫视、人民日报、光明日报、中国文化报、中国青年报、搜狐网站等近百家媒体的记者到会，会场气氛热烈，问答精彩。中共山西省委常委、宣传部长、大展组委会主任申维辰向中外媒体宣布：经中国文化部批准，2004平遥国际摄影大展将继续于9月16日至22日在平遥古城举办。山西省副省长宋北杉向与会嘉宾及记者介绍了山西五千年的灿烂文化。中国摄影家协会分党组书记、副主席于健真诚祝愿大展越办越好。法国桦榭集团国际总裁让·保罗先生希望借助平遥国际摄影大展，扩大桦榭集团在中国市场的影响与知名度。凤凰卫视控股有限公司执行副总裁、中文台台长王纪言希望在不久的将来，平遥国际摄影大展的奖项能成为世界摄影界的奥斯卡。中国移动通信山西有限责任公司董事长、总经理高步文希望现代通信的发展能够推进摄影技术的进一步普及。发布会上，法国驻中国大使馆文化专员满碧艳女士建议平遥国际摄影大展应确定自己的方向与特色，愿平遥国际摄影大展誉满中外，并希望法中文化交流再创新高。

　　Editors Note: The press conference in Beijing on the 2004 Pingyao International Photography Festival was held on June 30 at the Press Room of the State Council Information Office. This was the first domestic press release for this years PIP festival following press conferences in Tokyo and Hokkaido. Present at the briefing were reporters and journalists from close to one hundred media like CCTV, Phoenix TV, Tourism Satellite TV, Peoples Daily, Guangming Daily, China Cultural News, China Youth Daily, and Sohu. The atmosphere in the press room was buoyant while the questions and answers were relevant. Shen Weichen, member of the Standing Committee of CPC Shanxi Committee, Director General of Publicity Department and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the festival, announced to domestic and foreign media that, approved by the Cultural Ministry, the 2004 Pingyao International Photography Festival would still be held in the ancient city of Pingyao between September 16 and 19. Song Beishan, Vice Governor of Shanxi and Executive Vice Chairman of the organizing committee, gave guests and journalists a brief introduction to Shanxis 5,000-year-old civilization. Yu Jian, Party Secretary and Executive Vice Chairman of Chinese Photographers Association and Vice Chairman of the organizing committee, gave his best wishes to the festival. Mr. Jean-Paul Denfert-Rochereau, Executive Vice President of Hachette Pilipacchi Meidas, hoped to expand his companys influence on Chinas market by jumping on the bandwagon of the Pingyao International Photography Festival. Wang Jiyan, Director of Chinese language station of Phoenix TV, hoped that, in the not too distant future, the Pingyao International Photography Festival would become the "Oscar" of the photography world. Gao Buwen, Manager of Shanxi Branch of China Mobile, expressed his confidence that modern telecommunication technologies could push forward the popularization of photographic technique. At the press conference, Ms. Fabyene Mansencal, Cultural Attache of the French Embassy to China, suggested that the Pingyao International Photography Festival define its direction clearly and establish its own characteristics. She also expressed her desire that the Pingyao International Photography Festival would become world-renowned and the Franco-Chinese cultural exchanges would scale new height. All the attendees had one common hope-that the 2004 Pingyao International Photography Festival will assuredly be run with better planning, better quality and better attraction.
